Oregon Commission on ASD Needs Stakeholder Input Sessions: We would like your input on the recommendations that will be presented to the Governor in mid September from the subcommittee “Community Services for Children & Families”. This is one of the subcommittees that is a part of the Oregon Commission on Autism Spectrum Disorder, www.orcommissionasd.org.

  • When: Wednesday, September 1st, Providence St. Vincent’s in the Souther Auditorium
    Thursday, September 2nd, Providence Medical Center in the Cancer Center Auditorium
  • Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
  • Speaker: Cheryl Cisneros, Chairperson for the Subcommittee, will present the recommendations
  • Who Should Attend: parents, caregivers, people with ASD, educators and professionals working with the children with ASD to attend.
  • Hosts: ASO and Providence Child Center
  • Bonus for Attending: Food will be provided and, as an added bonus, there will be a drawing at each session for the Take a Break (TAB) Program which ASO sponsors. The winner of the drawing will receive a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant, 2 movie tickets and reimbursement of respite care at $12/hour up to 4 hours when they use the TAB gift certificates.
  • Location Addresses: St. Vincent’s is located at 9205 SW Barnes Rd, Portland, 97225 and Providence Medical Center is located at 4805 NE Glisan (entrance to Cancer Center is located at NE 47th, near corner of NE 47th and Glisan St.

Believe in Possibilities, Navigating Life as an Adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ASO's fall Conference will be for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, their parents/caregivers and professionals working with the adult population. View agenda. The conference will be on Friday, October 1st at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, OR. There will be several break out sessions on various topics and an exhibition hall of agencies and non-profits who supports adults with ASD. Download flyer. Register online.

For out of town attendees, ASO has a room block with the Red Lion Hotel, located right across the street from the Oregon Convention Center. The room rate is $99 plus tax. Call 800-343-1822 and ask for the Autism Society of Oregon Room Block.

Canby Cinema8 presents Sensory Saturdays. Family Friendly movies the 2nd Saturday of the month. Special set up for kids with sensory issues: lights turned up so not too dark; sound at lower level; kids can move around; watch movie before general business hours.
